Dashavatar Series (From Matsya to Kalki)
Welcome to Dashavatar

We’ve all heard bits and pieces of these stories while growing up, but there’s so much more to them than just mythology. Each avatar actually represents a stage of evolution, a lesson, and a reminder of how the divine protects balance in the world. And honestly, I feel these stories still connect to the situations we face in our lives today.
So, through this blog series, I’m going to write about each avatar one by one – their story, symbolism, and also what I personally take away from them. This is my attempt to understand them better, and hopefully share that journey with you.
Here’s the list of the ten posts that will follow:
- Matsya – Beginning of cosmic order, survival, and adaptation.
- Kurma – Stability and transformation during tough times.
- Varaha – Courage and rescuing the Earth from darkness.
- Narasimha – Justice and protection against tyranny.
- Vamana – Humility and wisdom over sheer power.
- Parashurama – Duty, discipline, and balance.
- Rama – Dharma, morality, and leadership.
- Krishna – Love, wisdom, and guidance in conflict.
- Buddha – Peace, compassion, and simplicity.
- Kalki – Renewal, hope, and the end of an era.
How I’ll Be Writing
- The main story of the avatar.
- The meaning/symbolism behind it.
- My reflections on what we can learn from it.
I’m not going to make it too academic I want to keep it simple, relatable, and straight from my heart.
Why I’m Doing This
For me, this is more than just retelling old stories. It’s about revisiting the wisdom our traditions carry and seeing how it can still guide us in modern times. Writing this series is also a way for me to connect with my own culture on a deeper level.
Stay Tuned
This is just the introduction. From the next post onwards, I’ll start with the first avatar – Matsya.
I’d love to know your thoughts: Which avatar do you find the most fascinating? Drop it in the comments, and let’s make this series an open conversation rather than just me writing.
Thank you for joining me on this journey.
